Operational Overview
Osprey is well known for their various series of small but informative books aimed at the modeler, wargamer and history buff. Their Duel series was launched in 2007 with volumes on the P-51 vs. Fw 190, Firefly vs. Tiger and U-Boats vs. Destroyer Escorts and has proven very successful. Giving the reader technical and historical information about the machines encompassed , these books are naturals for an interesting and educational group build. And the variety of subjects covered in the 71 published or announced volumes so far makes an excellent opportunity for builds ranging across the KitMaker network.

We had a Duel Campaign in 2012 and it seemed popular enough to stage a comeback. So here's Duel II! The idea is to build two models to depict a duel as described in one of the Osprey books (this includes all books currently published or that will be during 2016). You could build any two subjects named in the title of the book. Or you can team up with another modeler and each of you build one (each will receive a ribbon if they finish their model).

The Rules and Regs
1. Entry must be based on a volume of the Osprey Duel series

2. Any scale, any type of subject as long as they’re from one of the books.

3. Campaign will run from 1/1/16 – 12/31/16.

4. Each entry must have at least two models (stand-alone or in a diorama OK).

5. Models must depict subjects of the type specified in the chosen book’s main title (though they do not need to be subjects specifically pictured in the book nor does the modeler need to prove that they actually met in combat nor do they have to comply exactly with the book’s subtitle, if any). For instance, the models could be any King Tiger and IS-2 that might realistically have met in combat, not just those from Operation Solstice; also any Confederate Ironclad vs. Union Ironclad, not just Virginia and Monitor. BUT no SPAD VII vs. Fokker D.VII as the main title specifically says “SPAD XIII vs. Fokker D.VII.

6. Two modelers can team up to build one entry, in which case both models should be new builds. In this case, modelers are encouraged to use the campaign thread to find a partner but it’s up to the modeler to do so (the campaign leader isn’t going to team people up). If you’re doing it this way, be sure to indicate who you’re teaming with each time you post a picture (so I don’t get even more confused than I am already!)

7. Alternatively, one modeler can do both models in an entry, in which case the models can be up to 25% started in the aggregate (e.g. each model is 25% started, or one model is unstarted and the other is 50% built. Something like that.)

8. Either method used in rules 6 or 7 will count as one entry and each modeler involved will get a ribbon. If a team is set up and each modeler makes some progress on their build, failure of one team member to finish will not disqualify the other team member (who DOES finish) from receiving a ribbon.

9. Enter as many as you like and you can use different entry methods but each modeler will only get one ribbon and each model can only be part of one entry.

10. At least three in-progress shots of each model should be posted in the campaign thread and at least one finished shot in the campaign gallery (if you’re teaming up, be sure to indicate in the campaign gallery which models go together.) Also, you can do a build log but be sure to post some pics and a link in the campaign thread.

11. The idea here is to learn something from the Duel books, model some history, and have fun!
