SEM Models has released a 1/72 scale multimedia kit of the Italian dive bomber glider, the AVIA LM-02
The new tool 1/72 scale multimedia kit of the Italian dive-bomber glider is now available. The box contains everything necessary to make the prototype of the AVIA LM-02 tested in Vercelli at the end of 1942, or the battle version with two 820P bombs (820 Kg each). There are twenty seven resin parts, complete with photoetched details, metal undercarriage, and the canopy is made by Rob Taurus and finally decals.
An interesting concept to attack strategic targets on Gibraltar based on stealth. The idea of using a attack glider was to evade the listening posts based on the Island of Gibraltar. The gliders would have been towed by SM79 and released 20-30 km out. After bombing the targets the aircraft would make its way to the coast of Spain where the aircraft was ditched and the pilot recovered by submarine.
