Tamiya Bulldozes its Competitors? (FULL Image Report)

Wednesday, March 03, 2010 - 10:21 PM GMT

By JIM RAE
In one of the most interesting releases for ages, here's Tamiya's latest 1/48th scale release announcement.

First of all, my thanks to Luciano Rodriguez over at Missing Lynx for spotting this one.

The new model is:

65 - IJN Komatsu G-40 Bulldozer

Now, two things strike me about this release. Firstly, and obviously, for the Aviation modeler (particularly those who build dioramas) this is going to be a great addition. Secondly, for the Armor enthusiast - it's a great subject to add to a diorama of any of the Island landings.

As Tamiya has repeatedly released these subjects later on in 1/35th scale, we can also keep our fingers crossed for an 'Upscale'!

Wow! This is indeed very good news! Let's hope they do the Cletrac too at one point. Anyway, this model is already very promising... :) Thanks a lot for sharing! Jean-Luc :-H

Isn't that something for your Aleutian dio? .... :D looks great cheers Steffen

TedMamere SAID
No, I need a Cletrac for that... :( How is your Avia doing? :p Jean-Luc :-H

alpha_tango SAID
No need to pull out the big gun ;) I just thought of an invading troop of Japanese hiding behind the shield :D :D :D cheers Steffen

Hi there Very nice, albeit not exactly top of my list for day-to-day airfield vehicle. But it does conjure up a crazy idea for a diorama depicting Japanese aircraft being bulldozed after the surrender... Done well, that could be awesome! All the best Rowan C[ ]

alpha_tango SAID
Well I rather picture a dozer pushing some piece of jungle on an tropical island to free up some space to park the aircraft... cheers Steffen

Merlin SAID
Hi Steffen Yes, that'd be nice too (although I'm not sure I could model the trees and undergrowth convincingly) - but just as over-ambitious as the wreck-clearance for me, for whom just finishing the bulldozer itself would be a notable achievement! :D All the best Rowan C[ ]

BlackWidow SAID
Oh no, please not, Rowan! That guy in the seat is japanese, so this nice bulldozer will fit perfectly to all my japanese aircrafts like A6M,Ki-61, Ki-45 etc..... Have to look at my hobby dealer when he gets it in stock .... :) Torsten :-H
