AZ Models produce short run injection moulded kits with resin and Photo-etch parts included.

The Fiat CR.42 Falco was Italys last biplane fighter, and Mushroom Model Publications have released a new book in thier Orange series on this aircraft.
The book contains superb colour illustrations of camouflage and markings, walk-around colour photographs and rare b+w archive photographs.

Looking through Eduard's plans for 2007 is almost daunting... there are just so many projects! The full list can be found in their January newsletter, but I've picked out some of the highlights that caught my eye.


Obviously, the big news this month must be the release of Eduard's upgraded version of AM's classic 1/48 scale Shturmovik, plus the return of Eduard's own Fw 190 A-8 after the initial production run sold out in record time. But there's masses more exciting stuff among the list of January releases.


After years of being on modellers' wants lists, the LaGG-3 is suddenly getting its turn in the limelight. Last year saw the release of South Front's short-run injected kit, but now we have a stunning new model from resin masters Vector.


Continuing Eduard's highly successful policy of giving a new lease of life to Accurate Miniatures kits, the magnificent 1/48 scale IL-2M Shturmovik has been re-boxed with new features to bring it up to the latest standards.
Following the phenomenal success of their Fw 190 series, it was a safe bet that Eduard would have something special up their sleeve for the anticipated Royal Class version. But few could have guessed how unique this kit would turn out to be!

Of course the big news from Eduard this month is that their brand new Polikarpov I-16 is shipping.The first release is the I-16 Type 10 with Soviet VVS markings. A special Spanish edition will follow it as a Dual Combo, with decals for four Republican and four Fascist airctraft. And that will not be the last of the I-16 line, with the Type 24 being prepared for July, and the Type 17, 18, and 29, to follow after that.
A few weeks ago, when I published the News that Accurate Armour were producing a range of R.A.F. Airfield Vehicles in 1/48th scale, I was expecting some delay before the first details and images would be available. Happily, that's not the case and Derek Hanson of Accurate Armour, has very kindly sent me images of these new kits...
Eduard's brand new 1/48 scale Polikarpov I-16 Type 10 is almost ready to ship. The latest word is that the kit will be released on May 1st.
Trumpeter definitely seems to be a company who likes the BIG kits. Some of their recent releases (the Blackjack for example) have undoubtedly been in this category. With these two new releases, there is no indication that the trend is showing any signs of waning...

Eduard probably raised a few eyebrows some months ago with their bold announcement of a new series of 1/48 scale Fw 190s. Having virtually cornered the market with their high quality WW1 models, Eduard now seem determined to take on the Big Boys in the highly competitive area of mainstream WW2 kits.
