introduction
Trumpeter kit #00366 German Pz.Kpfw. KV-1 756(r) is the subject of this update set from Eduard. Please not that it's an update set, not a conversion set. The base Trumpeter kit is already that of a German KV-1, and this set is intended to upgrade it with photo etched details.

the set
The set consists of two decent sized photo etched frets, and of course the instructions, which run to three sides in this set. The set consists of fairly large parts, instead of the usual myriad of tiny parts you normally get in these PE sets.

So what do we actually get? Firstly, as you would expect, we are offered replacements for the engine intake grill underneath the overhang at the back of the engine deck. Not a part that's very visible on the finished vehicle, but nice to have anyway, and it's well done, with a realistic pattern. The two grills either side of the engine deck are given a similar treatment, with both of these requiring a slight curve and also they're fitted into a frame, again supplied by Eduard, which will look realistic when installed, especially if they're 'banged-up' to replicate battle damage.

For the underside of each fender we are given a long reinforcing strip that will be all but invisible when the model is complete. For the fender stowage box we're offered new brackets to hold it and also hasps and carrying handles for it. The replacements that will be most useful for people I suspect will be the triangular-shaped brackets that support the fenders themselves. There are five per side to install, each different from it's neighbour, but all constructed from a double thickness of photo etch by folding.

Various stowage straps are provided by Eduard for the outside of the vehicle, along with some small light brackets. For the main gun we're given a tiny locking nut for the brake, and for the Commander's hatch we're offered a ring for around it's perimeter holding a mount of some description, and new internal locking mechanisms for the hatches.

conclusion
A small set, but at a reasonable price, and there's no doubt it will improve some of the more basic details on the kit. Recommended.

SUMMARY
Eduard have produced this update set Not conversion set) for the Trumpeter KV-1 German Pz.Kpfw # 00366. It's a small set consisting mainly of large parts that will enhance some of the more basic parts in the kit.
