introduction

BRAVO-6 lately added two new US Infantry figures to the Vietnam War series representing the characters of the famous movie – Platoon and Vladimir Demchenko already started to sculpt the opposing Viet Cong local forces.

The new figures are represented together in a single kit in a communicating pose. One of the figures is Platoon leader Lt.Wolfe acted by Mark Moses posed talking with a handset and the other figure is the RTO – Radio Telephone Operator Private Tony acted by Ivan Kane carrying a AN/PRC-25.

box

The figures come well packed in standard BRAVO-6 light brown 50x80x25 mm cardboard box . The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figures which can serve as a painting guide. On the other side of the box; e-mail address and website of the company is noted.

The parts are represented with the casting blocks and parts of each figure are seperately inserted in a small plastic zip-lock bag to avoid unexpected damages during transfer. Small parts are secured in a second plastic bag.

A water-slide decal sheet including name tags, rank insignia and division/unit badges is also represented inside the box. The unit patches, rank and name tags are in black lettering on OD Green color background as one of the cavalry patch is in yellow like the one carried by Lt.Wolfe in the movie.

parts

The figure is sculpted by Russian sculptor and owner of BRAVO-6 Vladimir Demchenko and comes in medium grey resin parts. The resin quality is good and details are crisp. No air bubbles, excess resin or any casting mistakes on the figure. The junctions between figure parts and casting blocks were well placed and the parts can be easily removed from the blocks with no damage. There will be a small need for a cleanwork to remove a few vertical seamlines especially inside the legs.

Lt.Wolfe

The figure comes in 3 body parts and 6 pieces of personal gear.

  • The main part is Body with legs. Some parts of personal gear is cast on the body. The figure shows nice facial details and is absolutely similar to the character in the movie. An OD sweat towel is draped around the neck to wipe the face and neck protection from insects. He has black leather- Olive drab canvas jungle boots on his feet. Cloth folds of the uniform, half-loaded cargo pockets, seam on the skirts of jacket and ties of boots are well defined. M-1956 LCE ( Load Carrying Equipment) which consists of canvas utility belt and equipment suspenders with M-16 ammo pouches are sculpted on the figure. The figure carries an ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam) rucksack , also known as Ranger Pack, an external X-steel framed pack with two big rectangular flapped pockets. Fully loaded compartments, buckles and straps of the backpack, ammo bandolier and its strap are all well represented. A rolled poncho is carried straped below the backpack.

  • Right arm : Posed to carry the handset of the AN/PRC-25. Upper folded sleeves and cloth folds are well defined.

  • Left arm : Posed to carry a CAR-15 on his armpit. The rifle, unit badge on the shoulder, a wrist watch are sculpted on the arm.Cloth folds are well defined.
