This DVD includes about a 55 minute video of various modeling techniques for AFV modelers. They include:
- Weathering/blackening metal tracks
- Cutting brass tubing
- Creating weld seams
- Creating a hand-applied zimmerit coating
- Bending and using photo-etch
- Making stretched-sprue antennas
- Sculpting putting into a bed roll
There is also a gallery video with photos of the authors work (presumably).
Overall this video is very well done. The video is well shot and you can see everything in good detail. The audio is also very clear and easy to follow. Obviously the techniques will appeal to those starting out with AFV modeling. The nice thing about videos like this is being able to see other modelers in action and get potential ideas for your own projects or way of doing things.
The author is unfamiliar to me, but the information included with the disc describes him as a 32 year modeling veteran with many national awards. Dekker is certainly capable of making easy to follow tutorials. I thought for a DVD the video resolution might have been better, but I don't produce videos so maybe there is a limitation I am unaware of. My only other complaint might be the cost of the disc vs. the amount of info/time available to the viewer. Certainly $25 is not a huge cost, but I can think of more than a few $25 printed books out there that offer more information for the same or less money.
