My wife has been after me for some time now to build an Apache heli. She says they're "really cool". Can anyone steer me in a good direction of which kit is of better quality? Either 1/35th or 1/48th.

Not my usual genre, but could be fun nonetheless.
Tanks in advance.

I believe the 1/35 one all originate from the same mold (Kangam, Italeri, maybe another). There's the old Revell 1/32 one which isn't too bad, and the Hasegawa 1/48 one has gotten rave reviews. Monogram's 1/48 scale one ran me $4.90 as a plus pack from Toys R Us.

I just purchased the IMEX(Kangam) 1/35 Apachi. They look pretty good. Cant beat $40 for the A and $45 for the Longbow version. The Longbow needs some work but it looks great. I agree, the new D version taht Hasagawa put out in 1.48 is awsome. Take your pick.

My advice, do the cheap Monogram one for practice, then do one in the real scale.

Hi there
As someone said the hasegawa AH64D longbow apache is getting good reviews.
I picked up a testors/italeri AH64 Longbow Apache via ebay for 3.50(approx $5)Its actually a kit of the prototype longbow version.I also got the Revell 1:32 one via ebay,It's huge!!! A company called Flightpath do a detailing kit for the 1:32 kit.Have a look at Scott Murphy's website to see what can be done with this Kit.HTH

Curious, would it be better to invest in the Hasegawa kit or to get the rather expensive Verlinden update set for the Monogram Apache (1/48)? I looked at it briefly, but couldn't see spending that much money for the Verlinden when I could get the 1/35 one for about the same.

That being said, I'm glad I stocked up on the MRC 1/35 Kiowas and Sea Cobras when they were on clearance for $9.90 and $4.90 at Toys R Us. I'll never figure out why that Gold Super Cobra was less than 5 bucks!

I have both of the 1:35 scale Apaches, and I judged the 1:48 scale Hasegawa Apache at the recent IPMS Silicon Valley Show. I'd have to say the Hasegawa Apache is beautiful, and is far better detailed than either of the 1:35 scale birds. In the hands of a skilled modeler, the Hasegawa kit looks spectacular.
