IPMS Canada is excited to announce that the next three issues of our quarterly publication “RT” (aka “Random Thoughts”) will each include a free decal sheet, available only to current members at the time of mailing. Now may be just the time for you to join IPMS Canada (if you haven’t already).
IPMS Canada is the Canadian National branch of the International Plastic Modellers Society. There are currently 25 Charter Chapters across the country, and one in the USA. IPMS Canada enjoys a membership from all around the world; you don’t have to be Canadian to be a member of IPMS Canada. You just have to have a passion for the hobby, and be interested in seeing articles with a Canadian flavour.
The biggest benefit to being a member of IPMS Canada is the quarterly magazine known simply as “RT”. It’s a blatant copy of a now defunct automaker’s slogan, but this is not your father’s Random Thoughts. With thanks to the tremendous effort of our new Editor, IPMS Canada has smashed the former reputation of delayed publication dates, and has drastically revamped the format and quality of the publication. Steve Bamford (ARC) and Scott Van Aken (Modeling Madness) have been kind enough to review our publication on their websites over the years. Scott has continued his reviews of the new and improved publication, so take a gander over there, and read what the fuss is about.
Now, on to the free decal sheets, as I’m sure that’s the real reason you’re reading this. As promised, the next three issues of RT will have a special insert available only to current subscribers……none will be available for sale after the mailings. These decals will not be made available to the general public. The subject matter has been carefully researched, the artwork for the decals was done by our friends at Iliad Design, and they will be printed by Microscale.
The first decal sheet will be included with RT 32/3 due out August 2010, and will feature two sets of codes and serials for RCAF Mustang Mk.I’s in 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72 scale. The second decal sheet will be included in RT 32/4 due out in November 2010, and will feature Sherbrooke Fusiliers Sherman tank decals in 1/35, 1/48, and 1/72 scale. These are the tanks that destroyed Wittmann’s Tiger! The third and final free decal sheet will arrive with RT 33/1 in February 2011, and will include some oddball CF-101B markings in 1/48 and 1/72 scale. A small image of the sheets can be seen below.
Check out the IPMS Canada website for more info, including membership rates and how to join. If you’re at all interested in these, don’t delay! We’ll need to know ASAP how many sheets to print so that all of our members can receive theirs.
