Mark, I sympathize with your frustration. Well, if you ever build another Airfix Avenger(maybe a new mold one) down the road you can be fore armed. Missing Navigator looks like a Gremlin on the wing....hahahahahaha. Good luck finishing the kit.

Coming around the clubhouse turn and down the home stretch:

I also found my AWOL radio operator, who managed to get left out when I closed up the fuselage. And I found that the instructions didn't match the box art. Had I put the large number in front of the national insignia on the side and the small numbers in front of the tail triangle, all that effort would be out where everyone could see it.

Thanks Will, but don't let the Rivet Police too close. At a minimum, the missile fins are 90 degrees off, a couple overlap and I might have drilled out a mounting hole or 2 too large to be buried under the pylon. But in the happy news section, I've only got the tail hook, pitot tube and antenna masts to go. Might even try it rig an antenna. A good clear coat would qualify this one to be FINISHED.

My entre to this campaign

Nice little model and i could not resist to do a bit off work on it, so i added a engine

The color was easy i though

But i guess i should have started with red or white as the yellow was not to my liking,.. any way after multiple coats and extra brush strokes i gave up..

here the final pic.
Its a Tiger Moth that served in the Dutch Indies, decals are from Flevo Decals

thanks

Update on T-34/85 with Soldiers.

Near Disaster!!! The old Airfix tracks snapped apart in several places. I replaced them with Fujimi spare ones. Had to pin and weigh them down.

Double Disaster!!! The Fujimi tracks fell apart as well. The drive sprocket and a road wheel broke off too. I had to drill and pin them back on. 1st time I ever wanted to smash a model with a 10lbs. hammer!!!

Sanity regained, I affixed a 3rd set of tracks to the kit. These came from a Revell reboxing of the Matchbox T-34 kit. Decals being applied came from my spares collection. Pfew!
Thanks for viewing. Counting down to the 17th of December.

Haven't really thought about how to fix it. I'm hoping that one fades faster than the other. I might have some gray numbers I could use, but that just seemed odd to have 2 different color numbers on the plane.

Mark, your Avenger looks fantastic with its markings applied. Crazy how the #1 disappeared into the white of the triangle flash. Are you going to attempt an outline of the number?
Keep having fun. Bill

Many of the fiddy bits in place. Only the Yagi aerials, tail hook and radio masts left. I could have this one done tomorrow.

Getting close...

And for the first ever time in scale modeling there is an EXACT color match between decals and paint. The number on the rudder is 126, but the paint and decal match exactly and the 1 disappears. Oh well the decals are done, now on to some paint touch ups and the fiddly bits. this thing might actually get finished..

Update on T-34/85 with Soldiers.

Nearly done with all construction and detailing. Seams are cleaned off the figures. I replaced all the poorly molded weapons with new ones made of styrene.

Painting is up next. Thanks for viewing. Counting down to the 17th of December. Good luck fellow modelers on completing your projects.

Chris, I like the post shading on the Canberra. Makes it look like a veteran of many missions.

Hi Peter my humble thanks for the compliment! I've come to like the way she looks it was just the initial dissatisfaction over the post shading and that has now faded.

- Chris Your Canberra looks cool anyway. I like that used look. Don't mind the stronger-as-intended preshading

Hi guys got the Canberra finished although I had a hiccup with the post shading being way to dark. The mix I use for post shading is usually pretty thin but I hadn't noticed a loss of thinners and it was almost paint consistency. Oh well live and learn, I could remove it as the alcohol thinners removed the coat of Klear I used as a varnish/sealer. So I simply made her look well used.

Well, I haven't had to got to that level of old school. But my decals are so toasted

that I had to paint on the ID triangles.

I have some Star and Bar decals in the stash, but I had to go to Evil bay for the white numbers.

Thanks Russell...I just thought this old dog kit needed some TLC.

Update on the T-34 w/ Soldiers.

Cut open the engine screen and added mesh and styrene detail. Also added spare P.E. details to other vents. Scraped away molded grab handles. I replaced them with wire items. Relocated headlight to proper position for a T-34/85.

Turret assembly required some putty work. Going to replace over sized kit fuel drums with spare items. Started work on the figures. Mold lines needed removal.

One of the run of kit tracks split. Using old school repair method of sewing them together. Yikes!

The tracks are back together, though they wouldn't win any awards for neatness. Hahaha!
Thanks for viewing. Good luck everyone on finishing your projects. Bill

3rd entry into campaign....Airfix 1/76 T-34 w/ Infantry.

This is a really old kit and the molds show time's toll.

I bought this at a show as a bagged kit. There were no instructions and only a partial decal sheet present. Upon checking, I found the front idler wheels missing. YIKES!!!! I replaced the missing wheels with spares from a Fujimi kit.

In a time capsule box from my youth, I found some Airfix Soviet infantrymen. Notice all that vintage flash! Aaah!

So with an additional 2 weeks left in the campaign, I'm looking forward to tackling these old kits. Happy Modeling! Bill
