If youíve lost the will to build what you love, the thing that always works for me is to do something youíve not done before. Build an aircraft, or a ship, or something Sci-fi or whatever youíre unfamiliar with. Doing a little looking around on different venues gets my mind back in gear for a bizarre or one off project. Thatís how I started building armor since Iíd built aircraft most of my life. I never expected to build more than 1-2 armor pieces but it was almost 5 years before I built another plane...

Yeah, I totally lost my modeling mojo for about a year after moving to RI and buying a house so I'm feeling ya, Matt. Hang tough!

Seems like there is always just a select few of us that take past in the tool campaigns. Oh well, I guess the rest don't know what they are missing. Not sure what I will build yet. I have a list of ideas, nothing as fancy as the rest of you, but still.....

Thanks,
Randy

Iím hoping there will be a little more interest than just a us few... The last build a tool campaign suggestion didnít go off due to lack of participation.

Sure. I've done a paint shaker attachment for my jig saw since then too.

What irony--my entry is going to be a paint shaker i made from scraps and spare hardware.

Based on that the paint shaker build, I would think that Robinís compressor tank rework would be acceptable too, correct?

Would rebuild of my airbrush compressor count?
Don't know if a compressor can be considered a tool ....

I am swapping out the old, rusted through, tank and replacing it with two ex fire extinguishers. The "plumbing" needs to be rearranged due to new layout.

The only other tools I usually make are the cones I use when spin painting the "rubber" on tank road wheels ...

Mark,
Here are two more views of the larger version of the hold down tool. Itís also useful for some PE bending but thatís only a rarity since I have other commercial PE bending tools.

Mark,
Itís a hold down tool for drill press. I have more pics I can post later of the larger version I made for working on my hand loading stuff and hobby machine work. It holds round stock for drilling on itís other side.

Iím looking at doing one half the size for use on the precision drill press.

Paul,
Is that a hold-down tool for the drill press, or a disc-punching die for use on the drill press?

I intend to make a smaller version of this tool to fit my smaller drill press.

Here's one of my ideas....

I have the precision cast plate to make it, but will do something slightly different to center it on the table.

These build-a-tool campaigns seem to build support slowly. Personally, I have several tools Iíd like to build or modify. Maybe we need to discuss some of the items weíre contemplating to stir interest.
