The aim of this project was to detail a styrene figure to approach the standard of of a resin figure. The basic figure is from the DML set '6305 German Panzergrenadiers-Kharkov 1943. The parts were mixed & matched to create the basic look. Seam lines etc. were rescribed using a swann-morton #11 blade. Fine-tuning the pose was achieved by cutting apart the right arm and re-positioning with the MG in place. Unwanted detail was ground off with a rotary tool with a diamond bit. The sleeve cuffs were hollowed out at this point. Re-sculpting of the affected areas and the overtrouser legs were done with a 50-50 mix of Green Stuff and Milliput. This gives the ability to get the details that green stuff can achieve and the advantage that it can be smoothed with a water dampened brush. The belt was made from pewter sheet and the equipment (mainly Gen2 kit) pressed into the wet putty. The folds in the parka were made at this time. A Hornet head was selected for the expression I wanted and the toque was fashioned from the putty mix along with the scarf. The MG sling was made from pewter sheet and buckles and clips were added from Aber's PE set.
